Antivirus Reviews
Trend Micro
Trend Micro gets mixed reviews, so I really wanted to check out this antivirus — and was glad I did! Its AI-based, multi-layer ransomware protection truly impressed me. The program includes some interesting tools that are remarkably easy to use — especially the malware scanner and online privacy tools. Trend Micro antivirus is definitely worth trying out, especially as it’s competitively priced and backed by an unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee.
Avast
UPDATE: When Google and Mozilla removed Avast’s web extension from their stores, a scandal broke out which revealed that Avast (who also owns AVG) had allegedly been spying on their users’ browsing data and selling it to corporations for millions of dollars in profit. In light of these unethical practices, we can no longer recommend them on our site. You can read more about the controversy and our decision here. For a list of antivirus companies we do recommend, please see this list of the 10 best antiviruses of 2024.
Original Review: Avast Antivirus is a good antivirus solution – as long as the price you’re paying is “free”. Its basic version provides a lot of decent features that are probably enough to protect the average home computer user. With that said, its premium features are not worth the price. You can get all of the features of Avast’s premium plans with better and cheaper options.
Heimdal Security
There are a lot of powerful security tools on the market, and some of them come with a hefty price tag to match. While I can’t agree that this software is the “most advanced security suite” ever built, I can strongly recommend Heimdal Security’s Thor Premium Home for its next-generation detection capabilities.
