Only 3 Steps (Quick + Easy) to Getting a Greek IP Address in 2024:

  1. Choose a quality VPN. Pick a VPN that has at least 1 server in Greece. ExpressVPN is my top choice because of its great security features, exceptional speeds, and ease of use.
  2. Install the VPN. Downloading and installing a VPN usually takes no more than 1-2 minutes. If you have multiple devices, check to see how many simultaneous connections the VPN allows (ExpressVPN allows up to 8 connections).
  3. Connect to a server in Greece. Scroll through the VPN’s list of available servers and select one located in Greece. Once connected, you will be assigned a Greek IP address and can browse the web as if you’re in Greece.

The simplest, most secure way to get a Greek IP address is to use a VPN (virtual private network), which is an online app that has servers all over the world. When you connect to a VPN server, it replaces your real IP address with a new IP address from the country where the server is located (like Greece, for example). You can then browse the web as if you were actually in Greece.

I spent weeks testing top VPNs on the market and found 5 premium VPNs that always gave me a Greek IP address. My top pick is ExpressVPN because it has ultra-fast speeds, is very easy to use, and has top-notch security features. Editors' Note: ExpressVPN and this site are in the same ownership group.

ExpressVPN is my favorite VPN for getting a Greek IP address. It provides reliable connections to servers in Greece, has best-in-class security features, maintains blazing-fast speeds, has great streaming support, and allows torrenting on all of its Greek servers.

I like how quick and easy it is to connect to an ExpressVPN server in Greece. All I had to do was scroll through the list of available servers, select Greece, and tap the large power button on the home screen. Its server list is organized by region (Greece is listed under Europe), which is good because ExpressVPN has servers in 100+ countries and you don’t have to scroll through the long server list. Plus, there’s a search bar to find servers in a specific country, and you can also mark servers as favorites to find and connect to a server you use often.

It also provides advanced security features like:

  • Perfect forward secrecy — Regularly changes the encryption key used to encrypt and decrypt your data. If your encryption key was compromised, a hacker would only have access to data on the key they hacked, but any data on past and future keys would remain safe.
  • Full leak protection — ExpressVPN protects you against DNS, WebRTC, and IPv6 data leaks while you’re connected to the VPN. This way, your real IP address is never exposed.
  • Threat Manager — Blocks connections to malicious websites, like those built for phishing attacks. Plus, this feature limits the amount of data collected by ad trackers that attempt to monitor your internet activity and pepper you with annoying ads.
  • Ad blocker. ExpressVPN blocks ads from loading on the sites you visit while connected to the VPN, which allows the sites to load faster.
  • TrustedServer Technology — ExpressVPN uses RAM-only servers, so no data is ever written to a hard drive and all data is wiped each time the server reboots.
  • Audited no-logs policy — Prevents ExpressVPN from collecting any logs on your browsing activity or IP address. It has been audited and confirmed multiple times.

When it comes to speeds, no other VPN matches ExpressVPN. In my speed tests while connected to a Greek server, websites loaded instantly, videos played immediately, I didn’t suffer any lag while playing video games, and my files downloaded really fast.

I really like ExpressVPN’s split-tunneling feature, which is available on Android, Windows, and Mac — it allows you to choose which apps and websites get routed through the VPN server and which ones route through your regular network. For example, this lets you securely scroll on social media like Facebook or Instagram while connected to the VPN and place a DoorDash order using your local network.

ExpressVPN has monthly and yearly plans starting at $6.67 / month. It’s a little more expensive than other top VPNs, but it provides the best value (and ranks #1 on our list of the top VPNs in 2024). All of ExpressVPN’s plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Private Internet Access (PIA) is a great choice for torrenting with a Greek IP address. It allows torrenting on all of its servers and works with top torrent clients like Vuze and BitTorrent. It’s also great for streaming.

PIA also has fast speeds — when I was connected to its Greek servers, media websites I tested loaded quickly and without any delays, I didn’t experience any buffering on videos, and there was no lag during my online games. That said, it was slower than ExpressVPN.

One of the best things about PIA is its ease of use. Its apps are intuitive and user-friendly, with simple setup and configuration options. I really like that PIA makes it very easy to find and connect to a server in Greece — it didn’t take me more than a few seconds to get an IP address with any of PIA’s apps. Plus, PIA allows unlimited device connections, so you can use it on as many devices as you need.

What’s more, PIA offers a range of advanced security features to keep you safe and anonymous online. It runs on RAM-only servers, uses perfect forward secrecy, and offers full leak protection against WebRTC, IPv6, and DNS leaks, so you can be sure that your data is always protected.

PIA’s MACE feature is one of the best VPN ad blockers on the market — it blocks ads, trackers, and malware, making your browsing experience faster and more secure. In my tests, it blocked all ads — including those on ad-heavy websites — and it stopped me from visiting shady sites 100% of the time.

Private Internet Access offers a range of pricing plans starting at $2.03 / month, which are all backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Editors' Note: CyberGhost and this site are in the same ownership group.

CyberGhost VPN has apps with intuitive interfaces that are easy to navigate and use, even for less tech-savvy users. This makes it a perfect VPN for beginners.

One of the coolest things about CyberGhost is the Smart Rules feature, which is available on Windows and macOS. It lets you customize many different connection preferences. For example, you can set up the VPN to automatically connect to a VPN server in Greece when you launch the CyberGhost app, open a specific app (like Facebook), or connect to a certain network (like at your favorite cafe).

While CyberGhost is fast, it’s not as fast as ExpressVPN. I tested CyberGhost VPN’s speeds by connecting to 10 different servers in Greece, and I was able to load news websites in just 1–2 seconds and stream HD video with very minimal buffering.

CyberGhost is good for streaming and allows P2P traffic on all of its Greek servers. That being said, I still prefer ExpressVPN for both activities because it provides the fastest streaming and torrenting speeds in the industry.

In addition, CyberGhost offers robust security features. It has RAM-only servers, perfect forward secrecy, and DNS and IPv6 leak protection, and it publishes a quarterly transparency report that details how the VPN never shares user data. It also has split-tunneling (but only for Android). Unfortunately, CyberGhost’s ad blocker (Content Blocker) doesn’t block ads very well — though it’s good for blocking trackers and malicious websites.

CyberGhost VPN has monthly and yearly plans starting at $2.03 / month. It offers a generous 45-day money-back guarantee on its yearly plans (the monthly plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee).

4. NordVPN — Secure VPN With Excellent Security

nordvpn.com

NordVPN is an excellent choice for secure VPN connections to Greek servers. It has advanced security features such as perfect forward secrecy, RAM-only servers, and full leak protection (DNS, IPv6, and WebRTC). Plus, NordVPN has a strict no-logs policy that’s been independently confirmed.

I think it’s great that NordVPN comes with the Threat Protection ad blocker — it’s one of the best VPN ad blockers out there. Threat Protection guards against malware-infected downloads, gets rid of malicious ads, and blocks your connections to shady sites. What I really like about this feature is that it stays active even when I’m not connected to a VPN server. That said, I think PIA’s MACE and ExpressVPN’s ad blocker are even better.

NordVPN is also one of the fastest VPNs around, but it’s still slower than ExpressVPN. During my speed tests, I was able to watch 4K HD videos without any buffering issues. All the websites I visited loaded immediately and I also managed to play my favorite video games lag-free. This VPN also provides excellent streaming and torrenting support.

I also like how easy it is to use NordVPN. The VPN has an auto-connect feature that lets you choose which server you want it to automatically connect you to when you go online. It also has an interactive map where you can locate and connect to the server of your choice, which is very convenient.

NordVPN has budget-friendly plans that start at $3.39 / month. All purchases are backed by a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee.

5. Surfshark — Very Affordable and Secure VPN

surfshark.com

Surfshark is a secure VPN that’s a good choice for torrenting on Greek servers. It allows P2P traffic on all servers and works with popular torrenting apps such as uTorrent, BitTorrent, and Vuze. Surfshark’s reps also confirmed that it works with popular streaming platforms like Netflix Greece, as well as some local TV channels in Greece such as AlphaTV. However, unlike ExpressVPN, it doesn’t work with Disney+.

I was pretty happy with the speeds I got with Surfshark. In my speed tests, sites loaded without any delay and there was minimal buffering on HD and 4K videos. I did experience some lag in my online games though, so if you need a VPN that won’t interrupt your gaming sessions ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access are better choices.

Surfshark also has advanced security features like perfect forward secrecy and RAM-only servers, plus a no-logs policy that has been independently confirmed. However, while I’m happy that Surfshark offers DNS leak protection (and I never saw any leaks in my tests), I think it’s a shame that Surfshark doesn’t also offer protection against WebRTC and IPv6 leaks.

That said, I loved how easily I could obtain a Greek IP address with Surfshark. The auto-connect feature lets you choose what server location to automatically connect to when you go online, and the Favorites option puts all server locations marked as Favorites at the top of the server list for quick and easy access. Also, Surfshark allows unlimited simultaneous connections, so it’s a great option if your entire family needs a Greek IP address.

Surfshark is also one of the most affordable VPNs on the market, with plans starting at only $2.19 / month — so it’s also a good pick if you’re on a tight budget. All plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

How to Choose the Best VPN for Getting a Greece IP Address in 2024

  • Look for servers in Greece. You need to pick a VPN that has at least 1 server in Greece. Otherwise, you can’t get a Greek IP address. All of the VPNs on this list have at least 1 server in Greece.
  • Find a VPN with good connection speeds. Encrypting your data and routing your connection through international servers inherently slows down your connection, but the best VPNs are able to maintain fast speeds across their entire network. ExpressVPN had the fastest speeds for me, but CyberGhost VPN also had good speeds on all Greek servers.
  • Prioritize robust security. I only considered VPNs that offer 256-bit AES encryption, a stringent no-logs policy, a kill switch, provide effective leak protection, as well as those offering advanced security attributes such as perfect forward secrecy.
  • Select a VPN that’s easy to use. While many VPNs are easy to set up and use, some require several inconvenient and confusing steps before you can start using them. For this list, I only considered VPNs that have easy-to-use apps. CyberGhost VPN has incredibly intuitive apps that are easy to use, even for less tech-savvy users.
  • Opt for a versatile VPN that works well across various devices. The VPNs I recommend come with native apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS, ensuring seamless compatibility. Moreover, these VPNs are also compatible with routers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and more.
  • Buy a VPN that offers great value. All of the VPNs on this list have affordable plans, allow multiple connections, and offer a money-back guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best VPN for getting a Greek IP address?

ExpressVPN is my favorite VPN for getting a Greek IP address in 2024 — it provides great security features, blazing-fast speeds on all servers, and easy-to-use apps for all popular devices.

Can I get a Greek IP address with a free VPN?

Maybe, but I wouldn’t recommend using a free VPN. Many free VPNs don’t have very good security features, have slow connection speeds, limit the amount of data you can use per day or month, and often don’t have servers in Greece.

Your best alternative is to purchase an affordable premium VPN to get a Greek IP address. All of the VPNs on this list provided me with a Greek IP address every single time — and each one includes a money-back guarantee so you can try them out risk-free.

Can I watch Netflix with a Greek IP address?

Yes. If you’re currently in Greece, you can safely watch Netflix Greece with a good streaming VPN that has at least 1 server in Greece, like ExpressVPN. By connecting to a VPN server in Greece, you’ll get a Greek IP address and secure all of your Netflix traffic.

You can theoretically also watch Netflix Greece with a Greek IP address from a different location. However, this not only breaks Netflix’s Terms of Use, but it can also be seen as a copyright infringement.

Can I torrent with a Greek IP address?

Yes — all of the VPNs on this list have servers in Greece that allow torrenting and work with top torrenting apps like BitTorrent, uTorrent, and Vuze.

ExpressVPN is my favorite VPN for torrenting — it has the fastest downloading speeds, full leak protection, and robust security and privacy features.
