Like with every antivirus, I started out by testing its scanner, and it was able to find and remove every bit of ransomware I tested (and all other forms of malware, too!). Full scans took about an hour, which is on par with most antiviruses, but unlike Bitdefender, McAfee’s scans did slow my system down somewhat.

Bonus. Panda Dome — Good Malware Scanner With a Focus on Anti-Ransomware Capabilities
Panda just narrowly makes my list thanks to its anti-ransomware capabilities. While its scanner only had a 95% general malware detection rate, it found and removed 100% of the ransomware I tested. Its real-time protection also prevented all of the threats I tested from entering my device, making it just as good as Norton’s or Bitdefender’s real-time protection.
That said, where Panda falls short is in its extra features. I’ll start with what I like — the USB Rescue Kit, which lets you perform offline scans and disinfect heavily infected machines, worked great during my tests.
