What Key Features Does Norton Offer?

Norton has several key security features that can protect your devices in 2024. I tested each feature, and they all performed excellently. These features include:

  • Malware scanner — Scans your computer or mobile device and removes malware, including trojans, worms, rootkits, ransomware, and more.
  • Anti-Phishing protection — Prevents you from clicking on dangerous links or visiting dangerous websites that aim to steal your personal information.
  • Real-time protection — Stops you from downloading malicious files that try to damage your device. Real-time protection can also block malicious scripts that may be secretly running in the background.
  • Firewall — Monitors your in and outbound network traffic and blocks any malicious connections.
  • Secure VPN (Virtual private network) — Masks your IP address behind a virtual one and encrypts your web traffic, allowing you to browse the internet privately.
  • Password manager — Uses unbreakable 256-bit AES encryption to store your passwords, meaning you don’t need to remember them, and hackers can’t steal them.
  • Parental controls — Monitor your kid’s online activity and block websites you don’t want them to visit. You can also track your kid’s location using a live map.
  • Privacy monitor — Stops data brokers from stealing your personally identifying information (PII)
  • Device optimization tool — Allows you to optimize your device by managing start-up applications, cleaning up files you don’t want, and defragmenting your hard drive.
  • And more…

Norton’s malware scanner found and removed 100% of the malware samples I’d hidden on my computer, which is excellent when you consider competitor antiviruses such as Malwarebytes only found 95% of the samples I’d hidden on my device.

Norton’s firewall works well, too. It blocked every exploit attack I simulated against it and even managed to block network intrusions Windows Defender’s firewall let through.

Overall, Norton’s key features all performed excellently and are a great way to protect your devices in 2024. You can learn more about them in our full Norton review, or you can try Norton today and save up to 60%.

How Good Is Norton at Blocking Malware and Internet Security Threats?

Norton is excellent at blocking malware and internet security threats. When I downloaded an archive containing 1,000s of malware samples onto my Windows computer (which included trojans, worms, rootkits, cryptojackers, and more), Norton removed every single sample. Some of those samples were missed by competitor antiviruses, such as Comodo and Malwarebytes.

The web protection — Safe Search — detected and blocked every phishing site I tried to access, including phishing sites that Chrome, Firefox, and Safari let me visit. It also performed far better than the web protection included with most top competitors.

Norton’s mobile security apps for both iOS and Android are also excellent. They include many features that can protect mobile users, such as a malware scanner (Android only), a Wi-Fi network monitor, a password manager (separate app), scam SMS filtering, web protection, and an app advisor (Android only). Norton’s app advisor for Android is excellent — it can scan apps on Google’s Play Store and alert you to any privacy risks before you download the app.

Overall, Norton has a wide range of features that are excellent at blocking malware and internet security threats on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.

What’s Included In Norton’s post-Black Friday Deal?

Norton has several post-Black Friday deals, each of which includes excellent features. For example, you can get Norton’s most popular deal, Norton 360 Deluxe, with a 58% discount. Norton 360 Deluxe includes:

Frequently Asked Questions — Norton’s Post-Black Friday Deals

Does Norton offer post-Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals?

Yes, Norton is offering deals after Black Friday and Cyber Money. You can save up to 60% on Norton’s most popular plans, including Norton 360 Deluxe, Norton 360 Standard, and Norton 360 AntiVirus Plus.

My favorite plan is Norton 360 Deluxe — which you can currently save 58% on. Norton 360 Deluxe includes the most popular Norton features, in addition to coverage on up to 5 devices and 50 GB of cloud storage.

Whichever plan you choose, you get access to Norton’s 60-day money-back guarantee.

Can Norton detect malware?

Yes, Norton is excellent at detecting malware. I tested Norton by downloading 1,000s of malware samples onto my computer and ran the full system scan. Norton detected and removed 100% of the viruses, trojans, rootkits, and worms hidden on my device. Norton also comes with various features to protect you from other internet security threats. Including web protection, a firewall, a VPN, and more.

While each of Norton’s plans can detect and remove malware, I recommend picking up Norton 360 Deluxe. It’s currently cheaper with its post-Black Friday 58% off deal and includes the most popular Norton features, which aren’t included in the other packages, such as dark web monitoring (only available in certain countries) and 50 GB of cloud storage.

Can Norton stop hackers?

Norton 360 Deluxe includes various features that can prevent hackers from breaching your personal files or accounts. For example, it includes a smart firewall that monitors your network traffic and blocks intrusion attempts. Norton also features good anti-phishing protection, which prevents access to dangerous websites where hackers will attempt to steal your personal data.

Still, there are important extra measures you’ll want to take to prevent hacking. On top of an antivirus, you should use a secure password manager, such as Norton’s free offering. This helps prevent hackers from accessing your computer or online accounts by generating and storing encrypted passwords.

Can Norton be installed on Chromebook?

Yes, Norton can be installed on Chromebook. Although Norton claims it doesn’t offer Chromebook support, I tried downloading Norton’s Android app on my Chromebook, and it worked fine. In fact, it’s our best Chromebook antivirus in 2024.

All of Norton’s subscriptions support Chromebooks, including Norton 360 Deluxe (the most popular Norton plan), which is currently available with 58% off. Norton 360 Deluxe has multiple protections for your Chromebook, including an app advisor, anti-phishing protection, Wi-Fi monitoring, and more. However, with Norton 360 Deluxe, you also get coverage on up to 5 devices — so you can protect multiple devices in your household.

What Norton product do I need?

All of Norton’s products are very good, but the product you should try largely depend on your needs.

For example, if you want complete coverage on up to 5 devices and 50 GB of cloud storage space, then go for Norton 360 Deluxe. However, if you only want the most basic protection (such as a malware scanner and firewall) for one PC or Mac, then AntiVirus Plus is a good option.

If you want access to more features and only need coverage for 3 devices (select countries), then Norton 360 Standard (covers PC, Mac, Android, and iOS) is a good choice as it includes Norton’s password manager and VPN (with no data usage limits).

Whichever Norton product you choose, they’re all available with a 60-day money-back guarantee. You can learn more about each product by reading our full Norton review.
