What’s more, TunnelBear’s apps are very fun to use, too — you can use a digital map to connect to the Mexican server, and when you do that, an animated bear digs a tunnel to the server’s location (on iOS and Android, the bear even roars).
TunnelBear makes heavy use of bear animations and puns in its app design, so it’s also perfect for people who are worried that VPNs are too complicated to use — for example, its kill switch is called “VigilantBear” and its connection notifications have bears that wear country-specific costumes (when I connected to the Mexican server, the bear wore a sombrero).

IPVanish is also decent for streaming since it works with Netflix Mexico, but unlike Private Internet Access, it doesn’t work with Amazon Prime Mexico and Disney+ Mexico.
Unfortunately, IPVanish isn’t as fast as Private Internet Access and TunnelBear. Mexican sites usually loaded in 3–4 seconds, HD videos took 5 seconds to load, and 4K videos loaded in 9 seconds and I noticed minor buffering when skipping through the videos. Also, it took me 40 minutes to download 35 GB files — it’s not bad, but the same files took 30 minutes less to download with Private Internet Access and 15 minutes less to download with TunnelBear.
I like that IPVanish comes with advanced security features like perfect forward secrecy, which changes your encryption key for each connection to prevent hackers from compromising past or future encryption keys to monitor your traffic. It also has a strict no-logs policy that has been independently audited and verified, though I wish IPVanish would make the audit’s results public (it’d be easier to trust the VPN that way).
