Safety Detectives: Please share your company background, how you got started, and your mission.
Gaptain: Gaptain is a social Impact entity founded in 2017 whose Mission is to educate to protect students against the risks coming from the digital ambit. EduTech Kids Centric Universe 360º implements a digital literacy program in educational environments, offers education in digital skills in the classroom. It trains the students, teachers, and families with Cybersecurity and digital competencies so that they can prevent the new digital risks to which the students are exposed.
SD: What is the main service your company offers?
Gaptain: Kids Centric Universe 360º is an EduTech platform for schools that helps to create a Cybersecurity Culture. It allows education in cybersecurity from an early age and improves school coexistence, something that society strongly demands.
SD: What is something unique that helps you stay ahead of your competition?
Gaptain: Our solution is integral (students, teachers, and families) and personalized based on digital risk. It’s something that makes it very efficient to create Cybersecurity Culture, our final purpose.
We use videogames in the classroom to evaluate, profile students, and artificial intelligence to identify specific digital risks according to their activity, and automatically define the didactical unit most adapted to the classroom to mitigate them.
SD: What do you think are the worst cyberthreats today?
Gaptain: No doubt, ransomware cyberattacks and online fraud have a huge impact on our society. A very relevant piece of data that is particularly worrying is that 85% of these attacks are carried out through people, due to a lack of digital competence and knowledge of cybersecurity.
But also the negative impact on education is very alarming, dependence on the internet and social networks, cyberbullying, viral challenges, fake news, and others is causing worse academic results and serious emotional disorders due to the lack of support and digital education of teens and children.
