Beware! I signed up for System Mechanic and the kept sending popups to my computer. I kept deleting them. Then my bank account started getting charged $19.95 a month. This is a total marketing scam!!

I have used Iolo System Mechanic for about 2 years and it does a great job of tuning and cleaning up the system of all my computers. However, it's anti-virus program .drives me crazy. It keeps on finding viruses - trojans actually - on both my laptops which most of the time it doesn't remove or put into quarantine. This initially really worried me and so I checked both laptops with Norton, then with Malwarebytes, and finally with Sophos anti-virus and none of these programs could find anything malicious with the files that the System Mechanics anti-virus software had indicated to be trojans - but not removed. Product is good, but be aware of their "Support"

I purchased a 1 year subscription for their System Mechanic and overall from what I am finding, the product itself is good and it does help clean up my junk files and had helped improved the performance speed of my computer. But one thing they don't really mention is that they do add another monthly "premium" support fee which costs around $20 a month on top of the product you are using.
When I tried to access my account via their website to see if I could cancel the support subscription, I was having trouble getting an access link sent to me and in calling their support team, like another reviewer had mentioned, be aware that they seem to be more of a Sales rep than anything else. I currently use this with Windows 8.1 Pro on my laptop and it really does work wonders on my computer. I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 and then ran System Mechanic before installing anything else and I was surprised to find it picked up a huge amount of faults from registry problems to so-called critical issues. I clicked "Fix All" and System Mechanic burst into action. I do believe that it keeps my computer quick and running smoothly over the years that I have used it. It's so simple to use and you can either let System Mechanic fix all problems in one go, or you can go through them individually yourself and tell System Mechanic what you want it to do. Cant recommend System Mechanic enough!
