When I ran speed tests, I had very smooth connections — all Taiwanese sites I visited loaded instantly, and HD videos loaded instantly and didn’t buffer. 4K videos took only 1–2 seconds to load, and I didn’t experience buffering or quality drops while skipping through them. CyberGhost VPN is really easy to use. It’s very simple to download and install its apps, and each app has a very intuitive design. I’m a fan of its Smart Rules feature that lets you customize VPN connections. For example, you can set it up so it automatically opens your favorite social media site when you connect to a certain server — which is very convenient.
CyberGhost VPN isn’t as fast as ExpressVPN or Private Internet Access, but it performed really well in my speed tests. Taiwanese websites loaded right away, HD videos took 2–3 seconds to load, and 4K videos loaded in 4–5 seconds. Also, I had good speeds when downloading large files (I downloaded 30–40 GB files in 20 minutes).
I also like how CyberGhost’s no-logs policy has been independently audited, which makes it easier to trust that this VPN doesn’t store logs of user data. NordVPN has 100+ servers in Taiwan, meaning you’re unlikely to connect to a server that is overcrowded, which can affect the server’s speed. It’s also fast, though slower than ExpressVPN. In my tests, sites loaded instantly and videos played smoothly with minimal buffering.
I also like that NordVPN has plenty of advanced security features, including RAM-only servers, a no-logs policy that has been independently audited, and full leak protection (including DNS, IPv6, and WebRTC). During my tests, NordVPN never revealed my real IP address — I always saw a Taiwanese IP address.
One of my favorite NordVPN features is Threat Protection — it blocks ads, prevents you from visiting shady sites, and scans downloads (up to 20 GB) for malware. The Threat Protection feature successfully detected all malware in my tests, stopped me from visiting malicious sites 100% of the time, and got rid of most ads (but not on Android).
